Saturday, another milestone for me.. running the 10K of the Rock & Run For A Cause at the Bonifacio High Street in Taguig. Left Eastwood at 16:30, chaos traffic navigating The Fort while the skies quite unfriendly cold winds blowing..past 30 mins before gunfire comes the downpour. Runners are having second thoughts, starnded under the roofs of Highstreets, 5 mins before our 10K starts and its still raining. I told my friend that its “go time!”. Checked in at our gate, werestating to get wet, the singlet under light fabric and instantly absorbing every drop. We met 2 more runners from the same comapny and greeted them, the other guy told me “this is where the real runner vs the social runner draws the line!”.. bands where scheduled to play but due to the bad weather all we hear is drum roll, to my surprise, everybody from the 10K category is amped up! meanwhile, my shoes, they begin to absorb the waters.. here we go! No gunfire and my first night race featured the rain!!
First 3K awas unexpected, i got into a good pace like my friend’s debut did, soaked, streets flooding and big rain drops! ligh sabers for the marshals as the night begins to sink in. grabed my first Pocari Sweat from the water station and walked for 3 mins, tried to rehydrate like a man in a desert. took another pace for the next kilometer. the rain stopped within the last 2 KMs of the race.
My Pocari Sweat is almost a quarter empty, calves & thighs still in good form.. crossed the finish line at 1h9mins, quite impressive for a rain race, a new Personal Record! yehey!! my good ol friend finished his debut @ 1h25mins.. what a race, i thought this will be another PIDM nightmare but i was wrong, the rain helped me cooldown for the entire route
Maybe thats why i got a new PR.. saweet! Next stop ACE Hardware DAVIES Paint Eco-Friendly Run 2010 3/5/10 (MOA)
